Pace Group Program Discontinued for 2007 Race

Due to a shortage of volunteers to lead pace groups, the Sony Ericsson City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon will be unable to provide pace groups as originally planned for the inaugural event.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to be able to provide a pace group program for the 2008 event.

Change in Energy Gel Stations

GU logoGU Energy Gels will be available to runners at mile 8, mile 14, and mile 22, in a variety of flavors.

GU will be provided immediately before hydration at these stations.

Hydration Update

Diamond Springs logoHydration will be available at approximately every two miles along the course of both races. For marathoners, hydration stops will be more frequent between mile 20 and the finish — at approximately every mile.

Ultima logoEach hydration stop will offer Diamond Springs water first, then Ultima Replenisher.

Ultima Replenisher will be available in the flavor Orange.

Race Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are still needed to help make our event a success.

Friends and family members can be a part of your race by volunteering with:

  • Course monitoring on race day
    • Requires 2 to 3 hours at various times on the morning of Nov. 4
  • Parking control
    • Between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on race day, Nov. 4
  • Packet pickup at the race expo
    • From 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2
  • Other jobs

Volunteering is another way to help us support our beneficiaries, the American Cancer Society and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Plus, all volunteers receive an official volunteer t-shirt, refreshments, and a 20% discount coupon redeemable at presenting sponsor Raleigh Running Outfitters.

Ellis & Winters

Ellis & Winters logoAs one of the fastest-growing businesses in North Carolina's renowned Triangle, Ellis & Winters is thriving as what it set out to become in 2000: a select cadre of lawyers providing sophisticated legal services to blue-chip clients. Such achievements are quantifiable; Ellis & Winters' 22 lawyers represent more than 30 members of the Fortune 500.

Concentrating in complex litigation and commercial real estate, the firm's lawyers have been called on in some of the state's most important disputes and transactions, including a $424 million North Carolina Supreme Court victory.

The business community has taken notice, naming more than half of the firm's members to the North Carolina Legal Elite and The Best Lawyers in America. Nowhere has the recognition been as overwhelming as in the North Carolina Super Lawyers, which has recognized nine of the firm's 13 partners.

The firm's lawyers particularly enjoy endurance sports. During the past year, one or more have completed the Richmond Marathon, the Outer Banks Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, Ironman Florida, Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, the Firecracker Ride, and the Lumber River Canoe and Kayak Challenge, as well as dozens of shorter triathlons and road races.

Stephen Feldman will compete in the 2007 Sony Ericsson City of Oaks Marathon, while other firm members hope to finish the Rex Healthcare Half Marathon.

Biographies of all of the firm's lawyers can be accessed at www.elliswinters.com.
