Signs of Injury You Can't Afford to Ignore

Marathon and half marathon training demands a lot from your body. If you feel discomfort, how do you know when it’s OK to train through the pain or when it’s time to lay off? To avoid making a medical problem worse, back off from your training and see a licensed medical provider if you experience any of these signs:

  • Pain that causes you to change your normal stride
  • Swelling
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Pain that is not relieved by rest, proper stretching and warmup
  • Fatigue that doesn’t resolve with rest days
